Charter Revoked

Brothers:

Triggered by a serious drug issue with a Brother living in the house, your alumni asked our National to conduct a peer review of all of our members. That first effort was not successful due to misunderstandings and lack of communications amongst us all.

Our National then agreed to renew the peer review effort with very senior members of its staff. Several days after this commitment, a very serious and public hazing incident took place. This incident caused us all to rethink how to progress forward and in itself was cause for closure of the chapter by both the University and our National.

I must tell you that for a period of approximately two weeks there were very serious and open discussions with the University and our National officials regarding the situation To give you an idea of the effort expended: Numerous direct calls were made between myself and Bill Farkas, a one and one half hour breakfast meeting with David Ruth, Drexel’s Dean of Students took place, many phone calls between my self and Stephen Rupprecht Drexel’s Associate VP of Student Life were made along with many e-mail and e-mail updates.

Over this period I’ve come to know Bill Farkas and respect his judgment. Clearly we all want the same thing, an excellent Lambda Chi Chapter at Drexel; we are just trying to figure out how to get there. On June 6, 2006, I and three alumni members of our Housing Corporation closed the Fraternity House. We were assisted by many key members of Drexel’s staff. The closing was completed with the excellent cooperation of our undergraduates. Our National Fraternity and Drexel University are committed to a return of Lambda Chi Alpha to Drexel’s campus. I ask you to get past any issued you may have with our current situation and support us in our efforts to reach the outcome we all desire. At the end of this we will regain a chapter of which we can be proud.
